I don't think I am alone when it comes to being being concerned about genetically modified organisms, in fact I find it down right terrifying!
I have been researching and reading about GMOS for a couple years. I am not a scientist or Doctor but I can see the implications of injecting a bacteria gene into a plant gene! What if it gets accidently gets released into the environment ??!! (which, by the way has already happened with some GMO plant varieties). It isn't a simple case of the tiger got out of the Zoo and we have to go catch it and return it to its cage, which could probably be accomplished without anyone getting hurt or killed. With GMO's though, we're talking about something we can't see and it is in our food!!! We can't say "oops!, the genetically modified organism got out!" and when it bites someone and is reported, we locate it and put it back!
Bacteria! Of all things! When I think of bacteria, I think of billions of tiny microscopic bugs capable of multiplying at a rapid rate (some bacterium are good, granted, like the ones in our digestive systems and on our skin), but lots of them are bad and can survive in oxygen deficient places like the tissues of the average North American who consume the average North American diet of processed, packaged, chemical, fat and sugar laden, cooked to death 'dead food'.
Living foods like raw or lightly steamed vegetables, fresh fruit, seeds and the like have living enzymes to help digest themselves when we eat them, or if an apple falls off a tree it can rot. Living foods also, of course, are nutrient dense (unless they are cooked to DEATH). Nutrient dense living foods keep our bodies from becoming acidic.
It is when our bodies are in a constant state of acidosis our cells do not get enough oxygen, nutrients and water. In the state of acidosis all the systems of the body are affected and they cannot do their jobs efficiently (the heart may pump iregularly, the hemoglobin may not be able to deliver oxygen to the cells, the cells may not be able to use the nutrients available (if there are any available since the digestive sytem may be suffering), the brain may be feeling foggy and cranky, the owner feels like crap and orders McDonalds for dinner instead of washing vegetables and making a healthy meal, the McDonalds meal (being dead nutrientless food) contributes to the acid state of the body ...it's a vicious circle ! The oxygen deficient environment in the body is the perfect breeding grounds and home to bad bacteria and pathogens that thrive in an oxygen deficient environment...which brings me back to ..Bacteria! Of all things! Bacteria genes being injected (probably against their own will) into a plant...a plant that we will eat...a plant with the mentality of a bacteria ha ha (rather, with proteins that keep changing and that could cause food allergies for many), maybe a bad bacteria...that we cannot see...I just don't like where this is going.
